Julia Nissimoff is a Swiss-based abstract artist working primarily in mixed media and oil.
Her work explores transformation, memory, and the search for belonging through layered surfaces that balance intuition with structure.
For many years, I searched for a place that felt like home. I found pieces of it in different countries, different people, and different moments. Over time, I realised that home is not a place we arrive at-it is something we slowly create within ourselves. Painting became that place for me.
Working intuitively with colour, texture and line, I build each painting layer by layer. Every mark responds to the one before it, allowing the work to evolve naturally rather than following a fixed plan. I am interested in what remains beneath the surface, where memory, emotion and transformation quietly meet.
Alongside my artistic practice, I teach children and adults in my studio near Lake Zug, encouraging creativity through intuition, curiosity and personal expression. Whether creating my own work or guiding others, I believe art has the power to reconnect us with ourselves and with the quiet place we all carry within.

Painting is my way of exploring what words cannot hold.

Each painting creates a space for stillness, reflection and connection, inviting viewers to rediscover a sense of home within themselves.
